The City I&T Grand Challenge empowers and supports innovators to contribute to the city through the power of innovation and technology.

To progress beyond questions and effectively tackle challenges, we must foster a dynamic innovation and technology movement. The City I&T Grand Challenge is more than a competition. It is a journey of co-creation with innovators like you, shaping the future of Hong Kong. By participating in the 2nd City I&T Grand Challenge, you will engage in a competition with like-minded fellow innovators, collectively bringing forth innovative ideas that drive positive change in Hong Kong. Rules and Regulations
Submit your innovative idea as individuals or teams under one of the 4 groups:
1) Open Group
Eligibility:
Persons in Hong Kong or from outside of Hong Kong who are 16 years of age or above
Submission Requirements:
- Select one sub-theme and describe the solution by answering 3 questions in English or Chinese (maximum 100 words each)
- Elaborate the mechanism of the solution with a presentation deck (maximum 10 slides and 30MB)
- A URL link to a YouTube video (Optional; maximum 3 minutes)
- Cover images (Optional; maximum 3 and maximum 2MB each)
Judging Criteria (Semi-Pitch):
- Benefits to user and community (25%)
- Innovativeness and uniqueness of technology (30%)
- Feasibility of prototyping and trials (30%)
- Team’s capability and entrepreneurship (15%)
2) University/Tertiary Institute Group
Eligibility:
Full-time students enrolled at any local or non-local university or tertiary institute
Submission Requirements:
- Select one sub-theme and describe the solution by answering 3 questions in English or Chinese (maximum 100 words each)
- Elaborate the mechanism of the solution with a presentation deck (maximum 10 slides and 30MB)
- A URL link to a YouTube video (Optional; maximum 3 minutes)
- Cover images (Optional; maximum 3 and maximum 2MB each)
Judging Criteria (Semi-Pitch):
- Benefits to user and community (25%)
- Innovativeness and uniqueness of technology (30%)

3) Secondary School Group
Eligibility:
Students attending any secondary school registered in Hong Kong
Submission Requirements:
- Lower (F1-3 / Year 7-9): Describe the solution in English or Chinese (maximum 100 words) and answer 2 questions in English or Chinese (maximum 100 words each)
- Upper (F4-6 / Year 10-13): Describe the solution in English or Chinese (maximum 150 words) and answer 3 questions in English or Chinese (maximum 100 words each)
- A drawing or concept board (maximum 2MB)
- A supplementary document (Optional; maximum 5 pages)
- A video with a unique URL on any video sharing platform (Optional; maximum 1 minute)
Judging Criteria:
- Creativity and innovativeness (40%)
- Imaginative idea
- Critical role of technology in the solution
- Creative application of STEM education
- Problem identification and understanding (30%)
- Solution is relevant to the sub-theme
- In-depth understanding of user pain point
- Demonstration of good presentation skills
- Impacts and benefits to target end users (30%)
- Prominent and impactful benefits to end users
- Demonstration of user empathy
- Feasibility to be realised
4) Primary School Group
Eligibility:
Students attending any primary school registered in Hong Kong
Submission Requirements:
- A drawing (maximum 2MB) with description in English or Chinese (maximum 100 words)
Judging Criteria:
- Creativity and innovativeness (40%)
- Imaginative idea
- Critical role of technology in the solution
- Creative application of STEM education
- Problem identification and understanding (30%)
- Solution is relevant to the sub-theme
- In-depth understanding of user pain point
- Demonstration of good presentation skills
- Impacts and benefits to target end users (30%)
- Prominent and impactful benefits to end users
- Demonstration of user empathy
